Standard Gauge Railway

Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Project is a $3.8 billion national flagship project in Kenya. The main route of the project is 472.25km starting from the most famous East African port Mombasa and ending at the political, economic and cultural center Nairobi, and crossing 8 countries, namely, Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Makueni, Kajiado, Machakos and Nairobi, where some major economic centers include Voi, Mtito Andei, Sultan Hamud and the tourism hot spot Tsavo National Park.
Mombasa-Nairobi SGR Project fully adopts Chinese Railway Standard and is a Class 1 railway project with single ballasted track, the width of gauge is 1435mm, and the projected speed is 80km/h for freight and 120 km/h for passenger.

CRBC has been operating in Kenya for the last three decades having set up the Kenya office in 1984. In the course of the 30 years, we have built major roads, bridges, ports and railways. So far, we have completed 23 road projects with total length of 1200 kilometers and Berth 19 of Mombasa Port. Ongoing projects include the Nairobi southern bypass project, Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway project, the extension railway line to Naivasha and associated infrastructure of proposed Lamu port.

The Photographers Association of Kenya (P.A.K)is the official organization that embodies professionals, amateurs, photography lovers, hobbyists, as well as those in photography related industry. As a collective bargaining platform, P.A.K is the photographer’s voice that campaigns on copyright, promotes best practice through information sharing, markets members’ work and provide all­ important networking opportunities, including the hugely popular Kenya Photography Awards.

Kenya Railways

Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) is a State Corporation mandated to promote, facilitate and participate in the National and Metropolitan Railway Development. KRC is currently involved in developing a standard gauge railway network within the country and connected to neighboring countries

The original rail network in Kenya was a meter gauge built from Mombasa to Kisumu, known as the Uganda Railway due its destination but commonly referred to as ‘The Lunatic Line’. It was completed in 1901 at the lines terminus in Kisumu. The line was a huge logistical achievement and became strategically and economically vital for Kenya, linking the Indian Ocean with Lake Victoria and the East African to Kampala in Uganda.

TAEC Consortium is the consultant appointed by Kenya Railways Corporation to be their representative for design review and construction supervision of the Nairobi- Mombasa SGR project. This consortium has experts in all engineering and architectural disciplines involved in the construction of railway systems.
